How to Choose the Best Coworking Space in Birmingham

Much of the workforce in 2022 is made up of workers no longer required to be at the same desk, in the same office, 5 days a week. And as one of the UK’s biggest, busiest cities, Birmingham is home to countless forward-thinking businesses who encourage their employees to work in the way that best suits them.

Nowadays, flexibility is a prerequisite for employers and employees alike, so Bruntwood developed specific coworking spaces for those who want to change up their routine, get inspired by vibrant environments and work closely with a colleague.

Our coworking areas are designed to be dynamic, focused areas for one or two colleagues. If you’re looking to find a place for a larger group, check out our favourite meeting rooms in Birmingham.

The Best Coworking Spaces in Birmingham

Finding a coworking space in Birmingham has never been easier, now that Bruntwood have developed two stunning venues in the Cornwall Buildings and Innovation Birmingham. Work from a shared desk, available  9-5, Monday to Friday. Being surrounded by fellow entrepreneurs makes a huge difference to your motivation - and the coffee helps too. Whether you’re part of a new business, an established company in need of a satellite location or simply prefer a flexible approach to work, our coworking spaces can be tailored for whatever you need.

Cornwall Buildings

The interiors of Bruntwood’s Cornwall Buildings take design inspiration from the heritage of the Grade II listed Victorian red-brick exterior. Think: parquet floors, rich velvet upholstery, jewel-tones, bookshelves and plants - the perfect environment to get inspired by, and enjoy a dynamic working day.

The coworking space in Bruntwood’s Cornwall Buildings boasts superfast Wi-Fi, a communal lounge and coffee machine, access to storage facilities and a gym at the nearby Cornerblock, plus shower facilities - especially useful post-workout. You’ll also be kept in the loop about any community events, programmes and workshops going on.

Just a short walk from New Street and Snow Hill train stations, the Colmore Business District area is home to some of Birmingham’s best shops, bars, restaurants and landmarks, including the Town Hall. As the central hub of the city, it’s the ideal location to connect with customers and like-minded businesses.

The perfect work space for freelancers, start-ups and mobile workers, the Cornwall Buildings have dedicated areas to promote your concentration and productivity, whilst ensuring you’re still comfortable. Membership is £95 per month, for use of the lounge coworking space 3 days a week.

What’s On?

Located near St Philip's Cathedral, take a breather and walk along to soak in some of its beautiful Baroque architecture. Alternatively, the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is just a short walk along the way - give your eyes a break from the computer screen and take in the delights of their mixed-media exhibitions.

Try out Birmingham’s famous Balti Triangle for the best curry you’ll ever have - treat colleagues or clients to make a lasting impression of truly authentic Pakistani cuisine, made by the families of those who immigrated to Birmingham many years ago.

iCentrum at Innovation Birmingham

As part of Bruntwood’s SciTech division, Innovation Birmingham is one of the Midlands’ leading digital tech campuses. It’s home to over 170 businesses, part of 5spring (the West Midlands 5G Accelerator) and - fittingly enough - can be found  in the Knowledge Quarter.

The modern coworking space at iCentrum is the ideal environment for those working in digital and tech sectors, access to which starts from £145 per month. As part of a thriving community with access to over 200 events every year, coworking here gives you the opportunity to network and meet like-minded professionals.

It’s close to the A38 Aston Expressway, if you prefer to commute by car, and there’s parking available too. Failing that, Birmingham’s trams, trains and buses can be relied upon to get you around the city with ease, to and from your desk for the day.

What’s On?

It’s situated nearby Aston and Birmingham City universities, and just a 20 minute walk from Birmingham’s shops, bars and eateries - should you fancy stepping out and clearing any brain-fog, partaking in a spot of retail therapy or taking a colleague out for a well-deserved, post-work drink.

If you’re in search of a little luxury dining after a day at your desk, consider Gaucho - an Argentinian restaurant which specialises in steak, the finest wines and signature cocktails. If you require vegan and vegetarian options, Land serves international plant-based dishes using seasonal ingredients, so be sure to inject some flavour into your working week.
