Bruntwood invites content for its Rainbow Platform at Leeds Light Night
By Bruntwood
This year’s Light Night Leeds is set to be “bigger, bolder and brighter”, according to the organisers of this spectacular cultural family event.
It’s a brave statement, but the 14th edition of one of the UK’s largest arts and light festivals is sure to live up to any hype, this year celebrating the themes of progress and innovation.
Over two nights some of Leeds’ most recognisable indoor and outdoor spaces will be transformed by 60 spectacular interactive artworks and captivating music, dance and street performances by local, national and international artists.
For the second year, our Platform building will also be taking part and, in partnership with LeedsBID and The Enlighten Project, will present ‘The Rainbow Platform’.
The Rainbow Platform invites people to express their pride in the city in words and colour, and share messages with thousands of people on an 18-metre long text artwork located on the front of our flagship city centre building above Leeds Train Station. We want to know which single word sums up your Light Night experience or feelings about the city. Get involved by tweeting a colour and a single word, up to 9 letters long to #enlightenleeds
Craig Burrow, director of Leeds, Bruntwood said: “Leeds Light Night is an incredible event because it brings together people, organisations and artists from across the city and beyond, transforming it into two exciting nights of light, colour and sound.
“At Bruntwood we care passionately about Leeds and not just in its business, civic and sporting achievements, but in our cultural success and talent too and so it is important to us that Platform will again be helping to illuminate the city’s skyline. Rainbows are a great way to bring a smile to people’s faces and all those colours reflect the diversity of our city region. We’re delighted that we can be a part of this project and Light Night Leeds again.”
Light Night Leeds in partnership with Leeds 2023, takes place across the city centre on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 October, 6 - 11pm. The Rainbow Platform is in the event’s Station Zone at New Station Street, Leeds, LS1 4JB.
