We have submitted a planning application to deliver a new high-spec gym and enhanced customer facilities at Station House, situated in the heart of Altrincham. The new services are designed to help customers more easily integrate health and wellbeing into their working day.

The proposals reflect our continued focus on creating spaces that respond to the evolving needs of the workforce. If approved, the £800,000 investment will see 1,200 sq ft of new ground-floor space created through the reconfiguration of part of the existing undercroft, providing a new gym alongside upgraded wellbeing and customer amenity space. This will include vanity facilities with hairdryers and straighteners, helping customers fit exercise and active commuting more easily into their working day.

The works will also include five showers, one of which will be accessible, as well as lockers, a drying cupboard and towel drop. Additionally, customers and visitors will benefit from a more welcoming arrival experience with new front and rear landscaping improvements.

Station House combines a central Altrincham location with high-quality offices, coworking and meeting space. Following the successful transformation and full letting of the sixth floor, which created nine serviced offices, three conventional office suites and two externally bookable meeting rooms, the first floor has recently been refurbished to provide a further six conventional office suites and two phone booths.

The building’s lift lobbies and toilets have also been upgraded, while the reception provides a shared customer lounge and coworking space, complete with booths, desks and a tea point.

Sharon Johnson, Head of Commercial at Bruntwood, said: ““We know the best workspaces need to offer much more than a desk. People increasingly want their working environment to support their wellbeing, give them flexibility in how they spend their day and make it easier to balance work with the things that matter outside it.

“Our plans for Station House are about responding to those changing expectations, by investing in high-quality fitness and wellbeing facilities alongside flexible offices and shared spaces to meet and connect. Its position at the heart of one of the North West’s most dynamic and sought-after town centres makes it a go-to destination for ambitious businesses looking to grow and succeed, while bringing people into the heart of Altrincham to be part of its thriving local community.”

Located next to Altrincham Interchange, Station House is ideally placed to connect businesses across Greater Manchester and beyond, reinforcing its role as a strategic base for growth-focused enterprises. It is currently home to over 50 businesses, including Zelus Sport, Rise Fibre, London Care, and Civica.
