Further transformation to come to the Stamford Quarter as plans for new retail units are revealed

Bruntwood and Trafford Council have submitted a planning application to redevelop the former Poundland unit in the Stamford Quarter into new retail units.

The 7,000 sq ft space will be divided into three units, with the development designed to enhance the retail offering in the Stamford Quarter. The plans form part of the major regeneration of The Stamford Quarter, which includes the creation of Foundation, a thriving, collaborative workspace and leisure destination, complete with a 375 sq m living biophilic wall on the building’s external facade which is also now home to leading independent and national hospitality brands Nell’s pizza, Yum Cha, Lane 7 and Starbucks.  In 2024 Stamford Quarter also saw retail openings including Mountain Warehouse and the first IRL concept store for the #1 online retailer LOOKFANTASTIC.

David Charlton, Head Of Asset Management • Asset & Property Management at Bruntwood, commented on the announcement: “The Stamford Quarter has undergone an ambitious and successful transformation over the past 12 months. It’s been brilliant to see a myriad of popular independent and national businesses settle into the area, along with refreshed public spaces and how this has added life and colour to the high street. This new development will solidify the area as a thriving town-centre destination, which will continue to serve the local community for years to come.”

Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, said: “The Stamford Quarter has become a fantastic place to visit, shop and do business. This latest development will help it continue to evolve, attracting new and different traders and providing more reasons for people to spend time and money here.”
