Bruntwood's 'Platform' building reaches practical completion
By Bruntwood
Bruntwood’s flagship ‘Platform’ building above Leeds railway station has now achieved practical completion, marking a major milestone for the project, which is set to significantly raise the bar in the city’s office market.
The 13-storey, 120,000 sq ft building is set to be officially launched in November with customers already moving in and beginning fit-outs on the upper floors.
Platform will offer a distinctive, collaborative coworking environment for start-ups and SMEs from the digital technology sector and creative industries, alongside 42 serviced offices and full floor plates of up to 9,720 sq ft for larger companies.
With an array of amenities, including an open-air roof terrace, business lounge, and meeting rooms, plus shower facilities, changing rooms and secure bike racks, Platform will provide high-quality workspace for customers and their employees.
Platform will also offer a bespoke programme of social, business support and networking events facilitated by an on-site community engagement manager. The schedule will evolve as the community grows and will centre around industry talks and seminars, networking and social events, health and wellbeing and mindfulness sessions.
Craig Burrow, Bruntwood’s director for Leeds, said: “We’re delighted that Platform has now reached practical completion, giving a new lease of life to a previously disused building.
“Platform will provide a gateway to the city’s burgeoning digital and tech sectors and become a landmark destination for the region’s top businesses.
“We’re now focused on the moving-in and fit-out phase ahead of our official launch in November.
“We’ve had a lot of interest already from potential customers for the upper floors as well as specialist tech business and startups for the tech incubator space. There’s a real buzz around the building and we look forward to seeing the Platform community flourish as more businesses move in.”
Bruntwood has already confirmed a number of customers for the building, including leading national law firm, Shoosmiths, which has taken the full ninth floor, as well as Berwins Solicitors and digital design house, LightStart, with more due to be announced shortly.
The building is set to take part in the city’s Light Night festival on 5th and 6th October when it will feature a unique light exhibition, called ‘Beating Heart’, to encourage people to interact with the building.
