Bruntwood Works and BrewDog Exchange on Bar, Restaurant and England's First BrewDog Hotel
By Bruntwood Works
Bruntwood Works and BrewDog have exchanged contracts, and have been granted planning approval by Manchester City Council to bring a bar, restaurant and hotel to Bruntwood Works’ new Bloc development on Fountain Street, marking a transformative moment for this part of the city.
The much-anticipated BrewDog Hotel will be called Doghouse Manchester and is the first BrewDog hotel in England. The bar, restaurant and hotel are set to open in mid-June 2021.
The 18 bedroom hotel will be set over three floors, with industrial-style interior design features and bespoke furnishings promising high quality comfort. At reception, guests will receive a welcome beer on arrival from one of the 28 unique beers on tap.
Rooms will be furnished with shower beer fridges, draft beer taps and room service including food and drinks from the restaurant and bar. A fabulous rooftop terrace will host another bespoke bar plus a taco food offering.
The bar and restaurant will be BrewDog’s third Manchester site, transforming the ground floor and creating a 3,512 sq ft bar and restaurant featuring a large outdoor terrace with an incredible 28 taps of fresh draft beer.
Manchester’s bespoke, flagship BrewDog Hotel follows the brand’s other sites around the world including DogHouse Columbus, Ohio (recently named one of the 100 best places on the planet by TIME magazine) and the BrewDog Kennels in Aberdeen.
Bruntwood Works' partnership with BrewDog will completely transform this area of the city centre, breathing life into an underused corner of Manchester and transforming what is currently a thoroughfare from the Northern Quarter to the Civic Quarter into a destination in its own right. As Bloc sits just behind Market Street - Manchester's main shopping thoroughfare - BrewDog's opening will diversify the area's hospitality offering and revitalise its trademark brutalist architecture.
The partnership with BrewDog will add an even stronger lifestyle anchor to the Bloc community, and will sit alongside an independent coffee shop, a cinema room, bespoke spaces for community pop-up events, and shared event and coworking spaces to help foster collaboration.
Bloc will launch in Spring with a renewed focus on the work environment to help boost productivity and bring balance to business.
he building will feature technology to monitor and optimise air quality, a state-of-the-art wellness suite hosting yoga and fitness classes by FORM, a sleep pod to help workers with vital rest and rejuvenation and a cascading garden in the foyer, with living walls throughout.
Bruntwood Works’ transformation of Bloc is part of the property provider’s £50m Pioneer programme, which will see buildings across the North West, Midlands and Yorkshire reimagined into forward-thinking workspaces that offer innovative designs, individuality, flexibility, increased productivity and community.
Chris Middleton, Retail & Leisure Manager at Bruntwood Works said: “This is an exciting moment for us as we progress our vision of transforming this historic and underused part of the city centre. BrewDog is a bold and brilliant brand that fits perfectly with our ambitions to create an exciting destination around the Fountain Street area. Their recent B Corp accreditation is wonderful and inspiring news too as we’re committed to working with organisations that share our purpose, objectives and sustainability mission. BrewDog and Doghouse Manchester will be a key part of Bloc, anchoring a whole new community in Manchester where work and lifestyle balance is central. At a time when we are all missing our city centre, it’s great to be investing in its next exciting chapter.”
James Brown, Head of Bars at BrewDog, commented: “We are very excited to open our first UK hotel in Manchester, a city we have loved operating in for over ten years. The Doghouse Manchester includes our legendary shower fridges, draft beer on tap and our first rooftop bar serving over 28 different beers and tacos for our guests. We’ve really upped the ante offering our guests an unforgettable experience - they’ll never want to leave.”
