Yourgene Health: Uniting global molecular diagnostics at Manchester Science Park
By Bruntwood SciTech
Global molecular diagnostics company Yourgene Health were managing rapid expansion and needed to overcome the operational challenge of a fragmented workforce. By collaborating with our team, they successfully united their previously separated R&D, manufacturing, and commercial divisions under one single roof at Skelton House, within our Manchester Science Park campus.
This customer story shows how establishing the right workspace at the exact right stage of growth has completely transformed their internal communication. Integrating into our ecosystem—and drawing upon highly motivated regional graduate talent— has empowered them to fast-track diagnostic products to market and make an immediate, positive impact on human health.

Managing a business that's grown the way that Yourgene has always brings challenges and opportunities; you've got lots of people to integrate into the business. Yourgene Health is a global molecular business; we bring products and services to the international markets. Our mission as an organisation is enabling scientific advances to positively impact human health. So it's really important for us that what we're making and developing has a direct impact on the patient, and making their journey, whatever that is, the most effective—getting the results earlier and more effectively.
When I first joined Yourgene four years ago, we were spread over four different units on this site. As the business has grown, we've been able to bring those businesses together. Bruntwood SciTech have been exceptional in offering us the right space. They've recognised the stage of growth that we are as an organisation and have been able to provide the right home for us at the right time.
Already we're seeing some real benefits of all being together under one roof, and it's that communication between teams that really makes the difference. The guys who develop the product in R&D can then kind of hand it over to the guys in manufacturing who make the product; then that is passed to the sort of commercial and customer services team to take the product to market. So having everyone under one roof makes a huge difference.
We always find the managers, the graduates are amazing; they're motivated and they're really helping us to accelerate our business growth. There's a good ecosystem here for science, specifically around genetics and molecular diagnostics and services. What really motivates me is being able to help a patient journey, and that's where we're really focused at Yourgene, and why I love working here.
