UrbanChain: Disrupting the green energy market at Manchester Science Park
By Bruntwood SciTech
Deep tech innovators UrbanChain are revolutionising the renewable energy market and required a workspace that could seamlessly adapt to their rapid trajectory. Starting as a three-person team in our tech incubator, they have since secured £1.6m in government funding and set their sights on an IPO. The relocated Manchester Science Park to support their journey. Our dedicated business support programmes and highly flexible infrastructure provided the vital foundation needed to disrupt the energy sector and make 100% pure, green power affordable for all.

UrbanChain is a deep tech company looking to make green energy affordable for all. With new technologies making renewables the mainstream market for all customers, we develop technical infrastructure at UrbanChain, and then our commercial arm is developing the business model and basically rolling out the technology that we have to disrupt the market.
Since we started, we have received £1.6 million in government funding to grow. It's very important for UrbanChain to be a public entity, and as a result of that, we decided to go IPO. They have already said they are working to invest, so we'll work with our clients to make that happen.
We started out renting a workspace at the Tech Incubator with three people. We moved to Manchester Science Park and then we grew much more. I'm really grateful to Bruntwood SciTech because they're not just providing you a place; they're providing many other supports as well. Whenever you need to change or be flexible, they always expand their help, and we got their supporting program there, which was very useful.
We have to expand in different terms really—in terms of the revenue, in terms of the customers, in terms of the clients—and again, deliver on promises after delivering 100% pure and clean green power.
