Family-friendly storybook app Featherbed Tales empowers users to record their own voices over beautifully illustrated stories, fostering children's literacy and connecting loved ones across distances. To successfully navigate the complexities of app development, founder Caroline England joined our Female Founders Programme at the Manchester Technology Centre. Immersing her business in this supportive environment provided invaluable access to a diverse network of expert partners.

From targeted legal and IP guidance to specialised marketing and tech support, this collaborative ecosystem delivered the exact resources needed to overcome critical startup hurdles. Watch to discover how six months of dedicated mentorship transformed this innovative digital platform into a pitch-ready enterprise poised for vital investment.

Featherbed Tales is a family-friendly storybook app where you can record your own voice and overlay that onto a beautifully illustrated storybook. So it's great for speech and language development for children, for literacy development, but also for connecting people.

In terms of this programme and what this has delivered: access to a really, really great group of partners. I've had lots of time and support from lots of different organisations—legal, marketing, specifics around IP, the tech. All of those areas, I guess, that I felt were most challenging for me.

Over the last six months, I think my biggest achievement would be becoming pitch-ready. There's been a huge amount of support. To be in a position where I can go out and seek investment is very exciting.
