One of the UK’s leading mid-tier business advisory firms, Sedulo Group, has announced its expansion in Birmingham following growth success in the city, opening a new regional base at Bruntwood SciTech’s Cornwall Buildings.

The company's new base of 5,000 sq ft in the Grade II-listed city centre innovation hub, strategically situated in the heart of the Colmore Business District will support the company’s burgeoning growth and enable their new hub to support up to 40 people. The move underscores Sedulo’s commitment to investing in Birmingham and its desire to be embedded in one of the UK’s fastest-growing and innovation-focused business communities. The business first established a presence in Birmingham in March 2024, through the acquisition of R&D tax specialists, BTA Services.

Sedulo is on track to double in size over the next three years, and a new Birmingham base represents a key step in its national growth strategy. The move to Cornwall Buildings, owned and operated by the UK’s largest property platform dedicated to the growth of the tech, innovation, and science sectors, supports Sedulo’s commitment to developing and scaling its offer, including investing in increasingly sophisticated R&D processes.

Reviving professional networking and Birmingham’s business legacy

The move to Cornwall Buildings will see Sedulo push forward plans for a leisure and events space within the building that will echo the spirit of the iconic Metro Bar – a former business social hub housed in the same building and considered one of Birmingham’s most iconic venues in the late 90s and early 00s. Sedulo will use the space to host regular networking events, aimed at reconnecting Birmingham’s business professionals and sparking new pan-sector collaborations. The space will offer immersive experiences for business events and networking, with décor inspired by prominent Birmingham brands such as Typhoo, Lloyds Bank and Cadbury.

Cornwall Buildings combines heritage character with premium modern workspace, offering Sedulo access to flexible office space, coworking areas, meeting rooms and a business lounge. These facilities reflect Sedulo’s wider vision for distinctive workspaces to both attract and retain talent, and enable connection and networking that double as social and cultural hubs, and the new Birmingham base will continue a tradition seen in its Manchester and Liverpool offices, which include leisure spaces, themed meeting rooms and in-house bars. Locating to Cornwall Buildings positions Sedulo at the centre of Birmingham's professional and financial districts, and just a four minute walk from Birmingham's major public transport hubs, Snow Hill and New Street Station, providing fast access to national connections to London, Manchester, Cardiff and beyond.

Sedulo’s new base at Cornwall Buildings will see the business benefit from the proximity of and introductions to the 130+ technology, digital and innovation business ecosystem located across four city centre innovation hubs and two campuses already established in Birmingham by Bruntwood SciTech – a joint venture between Bruntwood, L&G and Greater Manchester Pension Fund - as well as its nationwide 1,100 startup, scaleup, and global customer community. This access will provide excellent collaboration opportunities to support Sedulo’s national growth strategy and passion for its employees to connect and socialise with a diverse and talent-driven community. This includes the brightest talent, connections to capital and investment, and introductions to established partners across Bruntwood SciTech’s sizeable network, including the West Midlands Growth Company, Tech WM, Supertech WM, and Medilink Midlands, as well as key academic institutions such as Aston University and the University of Birmingham.

Rob Valentine, Regional Director for Bruntwood SciTech, said: “Birmingham continues to be a big player in business, professional and financial services, with the West Midlands being home to one of Europe’s largest and fastest-growing BPFS clusters*. Sedulo joining Cornwall Buildings underlines the benefits that the city can provide firms that are constantly seeking out opportunities for growth – offering an environment that supports their momentum and affords extensive networking opportunities to drive innovation.

“Bruntwood SciTech is committed to investing in this ecosystem, most recently through our £4.5m transformation of Centre City, which is helping to drive increased interest from new and growing businesses. We also know the importance of choosing a workspace where people will want to spend time and feel comfortable, and that’s exactly what Cornwall Buildings offers. Sedulo will benefit from a space that has a rich history and character, as well as state-of-the-art workspace with flexibility at its heart.”

Paul Cheetham, Founder and Managing Partner of Sedulo, added: "At Sedulo we’re always looking at ways we can support our growth plans, while ensuring that our colleagues have a space where they can work, relax and socialise. The move to Cornwall Buildings will enable us to expand our services and support our wider national growth strategy, with access to high profile professional services and innovative businesses, as well as the opportunity to connect with new talent and professionals as part of our plans to revitalise networking in the city.
“Joining the Bruntwood SciTech ecosystem was a big draw for the move and will help support our future growth plans, through new connections, collaboration, and access to growth support.”

Sedulo’s office fit-out is expected to complete by summer 2025, with a two-day launch event set to celebrate the opening in June. The event will feature high-calibre entertainment and welcome guests from across the city’s business and professional community. Previous events hosted by Sedulo have included entertainers such as Gok Wan, Liberty X, Emeli Sandé and Damage.
