A heritage site for over 200 years
The site is steeped in history thanks to its rich roots in the brewing industry.
In 1786, Thomas Greenall purchased the site, transforming it into a thriving business that put Warrington on the map. By 1791, Greenall’s had become the largest brewery in the North West, thanks to locally grown grain and Warrington’s strategic transport links, including the Manchester Ship Canal. As the town’s largest employer, the brewery maintained close ties with the community, a legacy that remains today.
The Whitehouse, a beautiful Grade II listed building, was built in 1787 and originally served as the Greenall family home until 1838, later housing the brewery manager until around 1900.
