Bruntwood Works' Reveals Plans for The Plaza's Pioneer Workspace as £3M Transformation of Liverpool Landmark Nears Completion

Bruntwood Works has unveiled a sneak peek at the reimagined workspace environment and communal lounge at The Plaza, as the major £3m transformation to create a unique work and lifestyle destination for Liverpool nears completion.

The transformation is part of Bruntwood Works’ £200m Pioneer programme - the scheme that creates forward-thinking workspaces centred on six key pillars: biophilia, art, sustainability, wellness, amenity and technology - and will be Bruntwood Works’ first Pioneer building in Liverpool.

As part of the exclusive first look at the scheme, Bruntwood Works has revealed the design for the third floor that will deliver more than 8,800 sq ft of leased office space - with over two thirds of the space already let and 14 individual fully serviced office suites, which will each feature a dedicated private balcony, helping to enhance wellbeing for customers.

The third floor will also accommodate meeting rooms, phone booths and a communal lounge, which has been inspired by an eclectic mix of retro style and modern design. The lounge - complete with 1960s-inspired piano, lush green biophilia and original exposed beams - will provide an attractive and inspirational hub for collaboration and co-working, and double as an event space for customers and the community to use. It will also benefit from a large external terrace overlooking St Paul's Square at the heart of Liverpool's commercial district.

The Plaza, which is already home to a broad range of digital, technology and professional services businesses, includes serviced offices and larger leased spaces. It also offers Bruntwood Works’ Made & Managed product, which allows customers to build a bespoke package of services including utilities, furniture and cleaning for a simple monthly fee.

The transformation of the iconic landmark on Liverpool’s skyline, is inspired by a bold 1960s design and colour palette, to create a future-facing scheme where work and lifestyle are seamlessly blended. The expressive interiors have been designed to evoke a sense of action encouraging collaboration, community and productivity.

As with all Pioneer projects, wellbeing remains central as Bruntwood Works continues to create spaces that actively enhance work life balance and improve the wellbeing of its communities. At The Plaza, this will be delivered through investment in bespoke lighting and quiet study spaces to enhance the working environment and boost productivity, while planting and biophilic design will be integrated to boost oxygen levels, reduce stress and support improved mental health.

Ciara Keeling, CEO of Bruntwood Works, said: “We’re incredibly excited to unveil the pioneering workspace and communal lounge at the heart of the Plaza’s transformation. As our first Pioneer scheme in the city, the Plaza will provide the perfect blend of amenity, wellbeing, biophilia, technology, art and sustainability. It is influenced by the bold, sophisticated and vibrant style of the 1960s, reflecting the building’s heritage but with a contemporary twist. The Plaza will be a truly unique destination for work, lifestyle and collaboration in Liverpool, and we’re now one step closer to achieving our vision for the space.”

Earlier this year, Bruntwood Works unveiled The Plaza’s inspiring new arrival experience, which includes a lounge, reception and independent coffee bar by Liverpool institution Bold Street Coffee, which is now open on the ground floor. The Plaza’s fitness suite is also now complete, and is home to 142 bike spaces, 18 showers and a new wellness studio to host fitness classes.

The much-anticipated restaurant and bar, set to open later this year, will complete The Plaza’s extraordinary arrival experience. Liverpool can look forward to a new destination concept for the city created by acclaimed local hospitality experts, Graffiti Spirits Group, with more details to be announced soon.

The project is set to complete in autumn 2022.
