Bruntwood will continue to back culture in Leeds

Further to the unexpected European Commission announcement that UK participation in the European Capital of Culture 2023 will no longer be possible, Craig Burrow, director of Leeds at Bruntwood, said:
“Along with several other cultural projects, Bruntwood has worked closely with Leeds City Council and other partners to support and invest in the city’s bid for European Capital of Culture 2023. We were very disappointed to learn of the European Commission’s decision to end UK cities’ participation in the initiative.
“Yorkshire is a world-class leader in culture and Leeds is the dynamic and vibrant city at its heart. Our bid marked an exceptional opportunity to showcase its unique cultural offer on a national and international stage and to ensure strong and continued relationships with Europe.
“Supporting the success and ambition of our regional cities has always been a key priority for Bruntwood and while we await a final decision on the UK’s participation in the initiative, we remain firmly behind the bid and will continue to work to promote and develop the city region’s cultural excellence.”
