Developers Bruntwood have begun on the speculative redevelopment of almost 120,000 sq ft at City House, which sits prominently above Leeds train station.
Contractors Bay Construct have completed the enabling works which allows the full redevelopment programme to commence in early October. An 18 month build time will see the building ready for occupation in April 2017.
Craig Burrow, Director at Bruntwood commented: “We have a vision to create a more contemporary work space and have designed City House to respond to rapidly changing work practices. With an unrivalled location on top of Leeds train station – giving it some of the best connections in the city – and stunning views across the city centre, it’s given us a great starting point to realise something special in Leeds.
“City House will be an ideally situated contemporary workspace where forward-thinking businesses of all shapes and sizes can connect to the vibrant city of Leeds and beyond. With a range of tech-savvy, design-led space and services available, it will be a place for big business, established brands, start-ups and ambitious entrepreneurs to grow and succeed alongside one another as part of a vibrant and sustainable working community. Physical, digital and social connectivity will be at its core.”
The 119,210 sq ft scheme will be BREEAM Excellent and once complete City House will feature: a roof garden; a business lounge; and meeting and event space. Co-working and small suites will be introduced to cater for smaller start-up businesses whilst wings of up to 4,900 sq ft and full floors of 9,630 sq ft will be available for established companies seeking more space.
Bruntwood continues to work closely with Network Rail on the redevelopment of Leeds train station and in the future have ambitions to link City House even more closely with the station with direct access onto the concourse.
