This month, we’re proud to be sponsoring Leeds Digital Festival for the first time. Held over two weeks, from 16th - 27th April, this is the North’s largest digital festival and provides a fantastic platform for the digital sector in Leeds to showcase their work.
Leeds is one of the UK’s foremost centres for fast-growing businesses in digital technology, and the largest outside of London. “A recent report by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (Cebr) found what everyone here already suspected, that Leeds is one of the most attractive cities in the UK to start a business and where entrepreneurs are most likely to succeed,” said Kirstie Shapley, Programme & Partnership Manager at Platform.
With 9,000 digital companies working in Leeds, the region is home to over 23,000 digital professionals. The Festival will bring together these individuals to aid collaboration within the digital sector and throughout Leeds, to help continue the current growth.
The 2017 festival hosted 115 events covering topics from fintech to digital music, information security to coding, with over 400 speakers presenting to over 10,000 attendees. And this year, the Leeds Digital Festival team are promising even more.
With a talent gap in the city, Leeds Digital Festival 2018 will have a number of events focused around developing a digital career, particularly encouraging women into the industry.
Bruntwood’s tech incubator will officially launch at Platform on the opening day of the Festival and will also host a number of events throughout the two week Festival. Find out more about the events being hosted at Platform below:
