Starting up your own business can be daunting for even the most confident of people. It takes hard work and patience, but it comes with a great sense of excitement. We sat down with Cheryl Braham, entrepreneur and owner of independent coffee shop, Small Fish in a Big Pond, to find out about her experience in setting up her own business.
A Small Fish In A Big Pond is located in our Oriel Chambers building in Liverpool's vibrant city centre. It offers a creative space for people to socialise and work, while enjoying a great cup of coffee.
“The biggest sense of achievement comes from people coming in and making comments such as ‘it feels like its always been here’, which is exactly the kind of feel that we want for people when they walk through the door,” says Cheryl.
With coffee shops popping up all over the place, it is important to have a space that makes your brand stand out. An amazing space coupled with fantastic artisan coffee is what differentiates A Small Fish in a Big Pond to other popular coffee shops.
“Before we decided to take up the space it already had a really great feel about it and I could see it working well. So then what we wanted to do was to bring out the features,” says Cheryl.
Cheryl and her team worked tirelessly around the clock to turn their space at Oriel Chambers into something truly amazing and unique. The project took 3 to 6 months, from start to finish and what they are left with is a coffee shop with personality and character.
“Bruntwood has not just supported us in the run-up to opening the business, but following up from that with networking, putting us in touch with other businesses in the area,” says Cheryl.
We are excited to see Cheryl and her team continue to grow from strength to strength in the future. Watch our latest customer story video to out more:
